Team Isaac

Isaac is our 8 yr old little boy.  Isaac is an identical twin to his brother Ethan but before birth Isaac has a brain bleed which caused huge damage to his brain development.  This has left Isaac with cerebral palsy which affects every muscle in his body to some extent (quadriplegic, bilateral cerebral palsy) and has left him unable to walk, sit or use many of his muscles without support.

Isaac was born over 2 months early and fought for his life from the first minute. He spent over 3 months in Neonatal Intensive Care, and had to have a tracheostomy at 9 weeks old which means he is silent and cannot drink or eat.  Isaac is currently awaiting a major operation to have an internal (intrathecal) drug pump fitted at Alder Hey Children's Hospital.

Despite his physical disabilities, Isaac is a smiley, happy little boy who loves life. Isaac attends mainstream primary school with a 1:1 support, and has a fantastic bond with his classmates who see him first and foremost as their friend rather than being him defined by what he cannot do.

Equipment that makes a huge difference to Isaac's quality of life is far more expensive than for children without disabilities.

Isaac's equipment needs are going to be life long, and whilst we seek every possible support from the NHS and charity grants there are still short falls.
