Faith Flesner is a 9-yr old, fun-loving, generous and kind young lady, who loves spending time with her friends, participating in church and school events, and being with her family. She was excited for summer and looking forward to starting 4th grade this fall, carefree and light... until June 26th, 2014. On that Thursday, at Mayo Clinic, Faith was diagnosed with melanoma in her right eye.
Since June 26th, Faith's parents, Matt and Brooke, have been managing the whirlwind of doctor visits, research, and planning with incredible grace and belief that God WILL heal their little girl! As parents, they are lovingly caring for Faith- as well as their son, Gabe- and staying positive even while weighing options of treatment that no parent should have to consider for their child.
At the urging of their doctors at Mayo Clinic, Faith and the Flesner family will be traveling to Boston this month - to meet with a radiation specialist at Massachusetts General Hospital, to discuss the raditional option for treatment. This hospital in Boston is the only location that has the proton beam radiation for the section of the eye that has been affected. This trip is necessary, but simultaneously and understandably unnerving... and expensive.
As friends of the Flesner family, we want to rally around them and help to defray just a small portion of costs surrounding this vital, yet nerve-wracking, trip to Boston and the continued treatment of this disease. Together, we will raise $7500. Every gift will go directly to the Flesner family.
