TeamDylan: Fight Ewing's Sarcoma

Donation protected
Dylan Gaubert is a fun-loving 12-year-old boy from the New Orleans area who enjoys wrestling, baseball, and spending time with his family and friends. The son of Scott and Angie Gaubert, Dylan is a twin and the youngest of three boys.

After experiencing symptoms that originally indicated an infection, Dylan underwent surgery on Wednesday, November 2nd, 2016. Subsequent tests on a culture removed during surgery indicated that Dylan is suffering from a rare form of bone cancer called Ewing’s Sarcoma. Dylan’s treatment will involve extensive chemotherapy and hospital stays.

Dylan started his treatment plan of chemotherapy in November.  On March 7 he had a surgery to remove the tumor from his tibia.  He received a donor bone.  The muscle and the skin around the bone became unhealthy.  They tried another surgery where he had muscle from his stomach put in his leg to help with blood flow.  Unfortunately, the muscle was still unhealthy.  The surgery team, the family and Dylan decided the best next step would be amputation. He will have his leg amputated on Monday, March 20, 2017.  Following the surgery, once he is healed, he will have at least 23 more weeks of chemotherapy.

Although this news is obviously upsetting, Dylan has managed to remain in good spirits and continues to uplift those around him with his positivity and hopefulness. He has pledged to fight this with everything he has, and we are faithful he will resume complete health following his treatments.

Unfortunately, the nature of these treatments takes a toll on the family both emotionally and financially. Insurance only covers so much, and any generosity is both needed and appreciated. All donations will go directly to his parents to aid in Dylan’s treatment and recovery.

Justin Nichols will be presenting the funds to Dylan's mom (Angie Gaubert)
