We are seeking your prayers, love & support as we go through some very difficult times ahead. We moved to Ohio a few months ago for a new lease on life, to help out an ailing family member, to purchase our first home & to escape that Texas heat. We found a home we love, neighbors we enjoy, have reconnected with friends & family & even created a community garden, with the help of some neighborhood children. Steven was recovering nicely from the previous surgeries from his accident on the scooter, but he continued to struggle to be free of pain & the doctors only wanted to prescribe opiods in Texas - without insurance we felt we had few options. We had read the health care system in Ohio was better for folks like us. We are now both seeing a wonderful doctor here, she is great & very thorough. She has run extensive tests & we now both find ourselves facing some health challenges, what we thought would be routine physicals to get us on a healthy path, turned into good news, bad news. We knew we didn't always feel good & that we were both tired, but that was just aging right? To get to the point, Steve has had some places on his skin, a rash that came & went frequently, and blotches elsewhere (which now explains that ever present bandaid below his eye) we now know that it is various types & stages of cancer, he is undergoing testing & a series of many biopsies to figure out the best course of treatment. The good news is his blood pressure is way down and that was a major concern. The bad news is all those years running and working in the Texas sun have taken its toll. He says if this is a race he is going to win he needs your help and support! He is very tired a lot of the time & is also slowly withdrawing from the use of prescription pain meds & trying alternative forms of pain relief, but his spirits are good most days. We have both been presumptively approved for medicaid, but we know there will be several surgeries in the near future some of which they deem cosmetic & will not be covered, even though it is cancer removal. He will most likely not be able to work much during this time so we are asking for funds to help us through, so that we do not lose the home we love so much. As for me, many of you know I have been experiencing swelling, hives, rashes, gurd & extreme female issues & other ailments for some time. After many initial tests, I have been told that I have a rare form of Lupus, Connective Tissue Disorder, coupled with Uterine Fibroids/ Fibromyalgia which are all triggered by & flare up with STRESS so I am trying to stay calm. We are also trying to get an inexpensive car so that I can earn money driving for Lyft to help pay bills & to also transport us back and forth to the doctor as she does not want either of us exposed to anything on public transportation while having a low immune system.
