Team Dean Berden

Throughout the years, Dean Berden has been a steward and lifelong learner. As a retired teacher, organic farmer, and solar pioneer, Dean has donated time, treasure, and talent to his community. He has strived to help teach sustainable living to his students, local farmers, community members, and countless neighbors. Unfortunately, Dean has been forced into early retirement due to a terminal medical condition.

Just before Thanksgiving 2017, Dean Berden was diagnosed with Metastatic Prostate Cancer, Stage 4. The cancer treatment options for his aggressive type are limited as it has traveled to his bones in his spine, shoulders and pelvis. Per his doctors recommendation, Dean began his chemotherapy treatments in December 2017. While, the chemo will not cure his cancer, it will help with pain management and hope to extend his life.

We invite you to join Team Dean and help him raise funds to help him cover the next year of medical treatment not covered by insurance. Dean’s teaching retirement insurance will not cover the high cost of his treatment. Dean travels monthly to UM Medical Center for his appointments which have included overnight stays.

Our fundraising target of $24,000 is to cover one year of related medical treatment and associated travel.
