Caleb's Leukemia Battle

Donation protected

Hello to all! We are the grandparents of Caleb Greb. Back in August, 2012 on a travel just to visit daughters and grandchildren, we were informed that Caleb 6 year old was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. After the initial shock and many tears, we all realized Caleb was about to go through a process that no one could even begin to fathom. Due to the severity of Caleb's condition, he was not able to attend school in the fall to join his sister, cousins, and friends. In fact, we have been informed that Caleb will indeed be held back yet another year. Although Caleb is now passing phase 4 and going into the 2 1/2 year Maintenance regimen, it WILL be grueling. His mom, being brave and strong through this process, opted to allow Caleb to be part of a "Clinical Trial". This is where his next 2 1/2 years of treatment will be decided on a randomization. This is to help children, who may in the future, be diagnosed with this illness, reach a higher recovery. As he has been given "Arm 4" of the Clinical Trial, which is quite intense. Caleb will be receiving chemo and oral steroids once every 12 weeks, 6MP once a month and Mx Methotrexate chemo at double the dosage, 40mg ever received, once a month. He will be going into the facility once a month and some of his medications are given at home.
In order to stay on track, Caleb will be required to have one on one monitored care as much as 24/7 as well as home school, when available. He also has had to endure numerous visits to the Doctor and overnight stays at the hospital due to chemo, medicine side effects, treatment, and therapy. This is a lot for his little body and for him and his family but he and they are fighters working hard against this illness. You can visit Caleb's Web Page @ Facebook Team Caleb Greb and Team Caleb Group page. So many people within his community of friends within their area, joined forces to help fight this battle at a benefit held in October, to some success. But, more needs to be done. As this process is long and grueling, not to mention financially stressful. This too is on his webpage. Unfortunately, this fight and struggle against this illness has caused loss of employment for his mother (our daughter) and financial burden has been the gauntlet laid for this family, including his aunt (our other daughter) who refuses to stop doing all she can to provide assistance and constant support, which is difficult, given that she is a single mother of 2 as well. Therefore, this page has been created and dedicated to reach out to everyone for help in raising money for this family for support, gasoline (for travels to and from Dr.), rent, utilities, etc. Expenses are accruing and have caused financial hardship to their little family. As grandparents and parents to these 2 of our 6 children, we are reaching out in hopes to raise enough money to help Caleb and his little family get through this very difficult time.

Caleb turned 7 on April 16, 2012. Please help make his new year a very special one! God Bless! Love and Light!
