Megan Bennett kick cancer's butt!

Donation protected
This is never easy, but we recently found out that Megan was diagnosed with non-invasive cervical cancer, or adenocarcinoma in situ. This is a rare disease, with only eighteen cases seen at University of Michigan Medical Center this past year, and initially it was hoped that the Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure, or LEEP, that Megan had on April 9th would remove all of the cancerous cells. Unfortunately this was not the case, and a total hysterectomy has become the necessary solution, hopefully to be scheduled within the next two weeks. Along with the doctor, and all of us that love Megan, we hope and pray that the surgery will successfully remove the cancer at that no further treatment will be needed. This all comes at a time when Megan and her four children (Caileigh 13, Matthew 13, Gracie 7 and Sammy 4), are making plans to move out of their current home for many reasons, one of which is that it is believed that the house may be a contributing factor to the consistent health issues of the family. Needless to say, the last thing Meg needs to worry about is how to pay for all of this, but due to an insurance deductible of $5000 this is a very real and stressful concern for her right now. Moving expenses, day to day concerns and medical costs are all starting to feel insurmountable.  This procedure, while a serious one, has a solid record of success, but the recovery time is long and taxing, and has been slated at 5-6 weeks with very minimal activity.

In spite of all of this, Megan still continues to be the Founder, Executive Director and driving force behind Blue for Life, Inc., her charity organization that provides financial relief for sworn Illinois law enforcement officers and their immediate family members, as well as keep up with her home and four children and their busy schedules. Please help us help Meg to be able to focus on her kids and her health at this time and not have to deal with the added stressors of financial concerns. Prayers, meals and even potted plants (she loves flowers and gardening and we'd love to have her be able to take them along to their new house, when they find one!) are all appreciated as well.
