Why do our paths cross today? Today they cross so I can hopefully shed a new perspective on your life. Maybe turn some of that daily negative you experience into more shades of positive. Positives that have always been there, but you didn't see them until now. We all know that life is full of mysteries and crossroads. Now whether you believe in God or not, anybody with half a heart would admit that watching a child suffer is never something we want to see. You may say.. "If there was a God, why would he let a young innocent child ever be in a situation to suffer?" Point taken, my reply, you have to have faith. Usually we get what we need not what we want. Looking from a selfish view I see a bad situation, who would "need" that? However, if you look beyond the little boy with the disability through God's eyes he is a blessing beyond anything you can imagine. His laugh and smile lights up rooms, makes you warm inside and turns any rainy day to sunshine. His heart is pure and genuine; he is an angel on earth.

Today I write you to tell you a story about a young 10 year old boy who from day 1 had to fight for every day he opened his eyes to. He didn't have a choice on being born with Down Syndrome, but that disability has brightened so many that we are lucky to have him as a part of our lives. His parents made a choice from the day they found out AJ had Down syndrome that would change lives of strangers, family, and friends forever. Many in that same situation would not have given him a chance to see his first day, but we are glad his parents saw what God was giving them, a life with no promises or guarantees, but instead an unlimited reward of unconditional love. Again, from the outside we see negative and we ask why? Maybe because it can symbolize actually how beautiful our faith can be. You see his disability isn't one in his eyes nor ours because he is surrounded by a family. One that loves him unconditionally and that family reminds us every day how lucky we all are to be able to enjoy the day we have been given. His life is surrounded by people that love him and would do anything for him. Who wouldn't want that?

Faith is something that is always challenged. Today AJ has been presented a new one that will take even more support to stay on course. On August 19th, 2013, AJ, was diagnosed with Acute lymphoblastic leukemia, or ALL, just 18 days after his 10th Birthday... His smiles are even more difficult to come by with all the Chemo he has to endure, but if you look close enough in his handsome brown eyes it's still there despite it all.
As you know, medical expenses easily pile up and can strip a family's savings almost overnight. Our paths cross today because of our faith and belief that "everything happens for a reason", isn't cliché, its real. Today's reason is because while money doesn't bring happiness, in this case it helps us buy more days of Sunshine and smiles for AJ, which is priceless.

What we are asking from you today is a small donation to keep those smiles coming. Anything and everything helps and nothing is too small or too large. Thanks for your time and kindness and hopefully if you take anything away from this it is a positive reminder that any day is a good day, even if that day feels like the worst one you have ever lived through: because it is another day and that is why it is called the present.

Sincerely,

Team AJ
