My name is Melissa and I'm fighting each day to beat a nasty beast called Ovarian Cancer. I am a mother to 4 great children, whom I love with all my heart, and have been married to my husband for almost 30 years. It will be 30 years this summer! I'm hoping my cancer will be in remission by then and we can really CELEBRATE! Thats one of my goals!
A little about my cancer journey: Almost 2 years ago, as I was suffering a pregnancy loss, it was discovered that I had a "cyst" on my ovary. At the time, we took a wait and see approach (along with quarterly monitoring). Fast forward 9 months and take a little detour to January of 2014, when we learned my 19 year old daughter was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She had a 25 lb. tumor removed. While she was in recovery I had another check up on my "cyst". It had grown and I ended up in emergency surgery! 6 weeks later I learned that I had malignant ovarian cancer. Throughout the rest of 2014 I endured 3 more surgeries, where another malignant tumor was found. As you can imagine, the expenses have racked up what with gas, treatments, surgeries, follow up appts and even hotel stays, etc. I just learned that I have another tumor growing, so I'm preparing for yet another surgery and treatments. Insurance doesn't begin to cover it all and NONE of my alternative treatments are covered, period. Its taken so much out of pocket that our motgage is falling behind and we cannot afford my monthly treatments. PLEASE help me save my life and my home! Sometimes....sometimes we all need a little extra boost <3 This is one of those times.
