Help me educate Syrian refugees

The horrific conflict in Syria has reached five years now leaving 10.9 million Syrians displaced inside and out of Syria. Over 52% of the refugees are children. Turkey hosts 1.16 million refugees in the country. We need to take action, and do as much as we can to restore hope in these children’s lives.
My name is Maha Al-Barazi. I am graduating from Wayne State University in a couple of weeks with a B.S. in Elementary Education with a Special Education-Cognitive Impairment endorcement. Teaching is my passion! I've been planning this project in my head for a while, but I didn't know where to start. I recently joined The Syrian Orphans Organization (http://syrianorphans.org) as a volunteer to go to Istanbul, Turkey. We will be 15 volunteer educators coming from the United States to hold a three week summer intensive program for about 300 Syrian refugee children.
After the conflict in Syria occured, I promised myself that I will make a difference by spreading peace and putting a smile on a child's face. I especially promised to give these children hope. Hope for the future; their future.
The money that I will raise will help me in so many ways. First,I need to buy my ticket to get there (right now it's around $1100 from DTW-IST). Since I am a volunteer, I need to fund my own ticket and stay. Second, we need to buy supplies for the students and for the projects that we will be working with them on. I want to buy a collection of books in both Arabic and English to develop a 'library of hope'. The previous years the camp was in Southern Turkey, but this year it will be in Istanbul where there are a lot of refugee children that are struggling.
You will be a part every step of my journey. I will upload pictures and videos of me with the kids to keep everyone updated and smiling!
Let's restore their shattered hearts and broken smiles one step at a time! I need you to help me start my journey of peace!
