Trumansburg Neighbors Alliance (TBNA) is a non-profit incorporated organization created by local residents. Our members advocate for responsible community development. TBNA is committed to citizen-driven advocacy, participation, research, education and action. We believe in smart, well planned, sustainable, asset-based development that retains village character and brings integrated social, economic and environmental benefits. ABOVE ALL, TBNA believes the future of our community is in all of our hands.
Trumansburg’s distinctiveness makes it more desirable than ever after the lifting of a 10-year development moratorium. That’s why encouraging and supporting development that’s the best fit for Trumansburg, in quality and character, is TBNA’s greatest concern. That’s why we are focusing on what, if approved, will be the largest development in Trumansburg’s history impacting it for generations to come…Hamilton Square. This may be the first, but it won’t be the last to capitalize on the many large available land parcels in the middle and edge of existing neighborhoods. Once begun, such developments, from which there’s no turning back, requires thoughtful and responsible planning and design related to land use, subdivision, zoning, neighborhood character, building types, density, habitat, traffic, safety, utilities, services, recreation, open space…and the list goes on.
We, TBNA, agree that if it doesn’t contribute to and foster growth that fits Trumansburg, then it doesn’t belong.
TBNA acknowledges the challenges development presents to the entire community including the local officials and decision-makers in whom we place our trust. We invite interested citizens to join us and become actively involved in influencing how development and growth unfolds in Trumansburg. TBNA members have been putting in extensive research about the potential impacts and the experiences of the other communities.
