Taylor's Fight Against Leukemia

Donation protected
For those who don’t know Taylor, she is the biggest animal lover you’ll ever meet. If she could, she would have 15 rescued dogs in her home at any given time. She is selfless, and dedicates an infinite amount of time and love to her newlywed husband, Brian, and their two Basenji’s, Foxxy and Pharaoh. They have built a nurturing life together and only dream to build a family of their own.

Taylor is also loyal, caring, and someone that would drop everything to help the people around her before ever asking for help herself. So as the people who love and care for her the most, we feel it’s only right to do the same for her.

On October 26, 2017, Taylor visited her internist who ran routine blood work. The results showed a critically low white blood cell (WBC) count, a high number of lymphocytes, and a low number of neutrophils in her blood.

The following day, the same type of blood tests were re-run in hopes that the results were wrong and due to something like a lab error…unfortunately they came back worse.

On October 30th, 2017, Taylor was admitted to the hospital for a consult with a hematologist/oncologist, which is a blood disorder and cancer specialist. Her admission diagnosis was neutropenia (a condition characterized by her critically low/almost non-existent levels of WBCs).  WBCs make up the immune system, and because Taylor virtually had none, she was put in a quarantined room... A slew of viral disorder tests were performed which all came back negative, so a bone marrow biopsy was ordered. Causing us to painstakingly wait on pins & needles for the 48-hour preliminary results. Unfortunately, the results were devastating and on November 1st, 2017, Taylor was diagnosed with leukemia. Further definitive results specified it as APL (Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia).

Although we were absolutely crushed by the news, we’ve recognized that we are extremely blessed to have caught it early on, with a great prognosis, and a survival rate of 92%. Her doctors have been, and plan to attack her cancer as aggressively and quickly as possible. Part of this plan includes Taylor staying in the hospital for a minimum of one month as she undergoes various treatments and daily chemo. As most of you may know, in sensitive times such as these, expenses add up fairly quickly... her hospital stay alone without any testing and treatment will cost up to $100,000. With Taylor out of work and the insurance only covering so much…now, more than ever, is the time for all of us who love and care for Taylor, to come together and help.

Our #1 goal in all of this is to see Taylor happy and healthy and for her to one day be able to say, “I HAD CANCER AND BEAT IT!” In doing so, it’s important for her to focus all of her mental energy and body strength towards getting better. But we understand that this can be extremely difficult to do when the burden of medical, financial and general living expenses are inevitable. Unfortunately, Taylor’s mom, husband, and other immediate family members will have to ‘press pause’ on their regular life and work routines in order to tend to Taylor’s needs as they join in on her upcoming year-long battle. But, if we come together, we have the ability to forbid this factor from negatively affecting any of them. Donations of any amount, no matter how big or small, would truly be appreciated and directly go towards Taylor’s journey in beating this.

And as some of you may know, all of this can be extremely overwhelming. Every person has their own way of coping with difficult situations. Thus, in the nicest way possible, we kindly ask you to refrain from directly contacting Taylor’s phone but instead, send your words of endearment to [email redacted]. This will serve as an organized and separate place for her to come to whenever she feels the time is right.

With an infinite amount of support from family and friends, an amazing hospital staff, and lots of prayers, Taylor WILL kick this cancer’s ass!

For any questions and fundraising ideas, please feel free to contact my cell phone directly at (703) [phone redacted].
