Taylor Needs a ParaVan!

Our good friend Taylor was diagnosed with Charcot Marie Tooth Disease at a young age.

Charcot (shahr-KOH)-Marie-Tooth disease is a group of hereditary disorders that damage the nerves in your arms and legs (peripheral nerves). Some of the symptoms include:
Weakness in your legs, ankles and feet;
Loss of muscle bulk in legs and feet
High foot arches;
Curled toes (hammertoes);
Difficulty lifting your foot at the ankle (footdrop);
Awkward or higher than normal step (gait);
Frequent tripping or falling;
Decreased sensation or a loss of feeling in your legs and feet;
Progressive inability to walk from weakness; balance problems and/or orthopedic problems;
Progressive inability to use hands effectively;
Injury to areas of the body that have decreased sensation.

Taylor has been diagnosed with the rarest form of CMT, type X. The disorder was one that actually wasn't inherited like most. He was also told by the neurophysiologist at Saint Michael's, that he examines approx 2 people with CMT per day, and Tay is the worst case he's ever seen. He claims that almost all people with CMT are able to walk, this is unfortunately not the case for my friend. Taylor has lost feeling entirely in both his hands (up to elbows) and feet (up to his knees) and it has also started to affect his eye sight.

Taylor currently uses a scooter and wheel chair for mobility; however he has no means of transporting them around. He lives in Northern Ontario where the winters are long and treacherous. There is only one bus in the town that is able to transport disabled people so it isn't always available when required. When you want to go away for a weekend, maybe to visit friends, a cottage, a festival, or maybe a doctors appointment or groceries, or most importantly a specialist appointment that may even be out of town, you can simply get in a vehicle and go. This is not the case for Taylor, he can actually count the number of times he gets to go out in a year, which is why in starting this fund.

Taylor is too proud to ask for assistance and living with a disability is not easy to come up with extra funds. I'm starting this GoFundMe account to support him and help raise money for a ParaVan so Taylor can travel with the same mobility as the rest of us.

Please help support our friend.
