Tasha Guatney is a Utah State graduate student studying a solitary bee that pollinates alfalfa. She has been working to improve the management of this commercial pollinator for 2 years, and has begun to write her thesis.
In October, Tasha suffered a grand mal seizure while at work, which resulted in intensive, expensive emergency and extended medical care. Her medical bills after insurance already are enormous, and she is still working with doctors to figure out the medications that will allow her to continue to recover and remain in good health. Because her recovery from this incidence is slow and painful, she is taking a leave of absence. Not only does Tasha face a recovery of health, she will try to recover financially during this time.
Albeit difficult for this strong and independent woman to rely heavily on others, Tasha has accepted the offer of her friends to help lighten her financial burden so that she can focus on improving her health and completing the important work that she started.
Our kind-hearted, hard-working, and environmentally conscious Tasha has much talent and energy to offer to her community. She is a wonderful and enthusiastic educator of the public, advocating for sustainable agriculture. We would like to see Tasha fulfill her dreams and earn a Master's degree that will open more doors for her to gain a meaningful livelihood for fulfilling her commitment to her local community in creating opportunities for better tomorrows.
