Tasha Abroad: A Service Trip of Lifetime

Donation protected

"We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give." "• Winston Churchill

Who I Am:

My name is Tasha and I love to help people. I seek adventure through travel and I absolutely thrive on serving the world around me! I am a licensed Experiential Therapist and currently getting a specialty masters to become a Child Life Specialist and Certified Parent Educator. I emphasize family centered care and help children and families learn appropriate life skills and coping techniques due to experienced trauma, hospitalization, and/or illness. Through my graduate program, I have been accepted to travel to Northern Ireland where I will be servicing children who have been affected by war and other trauma. This trip is very special to me because it is focused around giving self-less service to those in need - a great passion of mine!

What Will I Be Doing:

I will be helping children and families heal from violence and conflict. This includes working with children of war; victims of emotional or physical abuse; and teaching orphans who need education & positive leadership. I will also be fortunate enough to meet with & serve alongside local, political, and human service leaders to learn of their efforts in providing peace and healing to these children. For example, I will get the chance to be a part of the design of their early childhood programs that are focused on helping children who have been affected by violence and conflict. What an incredible opportunity for growth and life experience!

Why I want to Do This:

I sincerely want to help others. Always have. So, an additional goal is to bring back what I learn and then continue to find opportunities to pass it forward here in the states. I imagine seeking out other future travels as well so I can continue to work with people who have experienced the effects of war; trauma; conflict; and violence. I know many in the world (and some already around us) have suffered greatly and need the kind of service and love that heals hearts, lives, and changes people for the better.

Where You Come In:

I know times are tight for everyone. Believe me! I am already living off of loans for school and "lucky" for me, they DON'T give scholarships to grad students so I'm relying on savings, fundraising, and - well - your generosity in order to go on these trips. ANYTHING will help! (i.e. $1, $3, $10, .50 cents, $100 etc!) Because of your donations, I will get to help others. I will utilize my skills and experiences to try and spread peace & healing - one beloved person at a time in two very important countries to me. So - in effect - YOU will get to help the world too.

Thank You:

It honestly has been a lifelong dream to get to travel to each of these countries and to serve the people living there. I am grateful to my school for accepting me to both service opportunities. I now thank you for taking the time to consider my mission-of-good. I assure you that any donation is deeply appreciated and will be used for pure and genuine service abroad.
