Hello, this is my brother Tanner. Those who know Tanner know him as an active, vibrant, and athletic 31-year old. His family and friends enjoy his sense of adventure and positive attitude.
However, over the past two years Tanner’s life has changed dramatically. He has been struggling with a multitude of joint and muscle problems. He was recently diagnosed with having weak connective tissue that has resulted in large amounts of soft tissue damage throughout his body. He is at a point right now where he is unable to continue working, actively engage with his friends, and even daily tasks have become a challenge.
We don’t know 100% why this is happened. The specialist’s most probable diagnosis is that the damage occurred from a viral infection Tanner contracted during his last visit to Asia, which since passed (thankfully!). Unfortunately, the virus left him with these joint and muscle problems. Tanner is laser-focused on his recovery and healing, and I have never seen a person more committed to taking his life back.
He was recently advised by a specialist to move to a larger metropolitan center that has more capable facilities to assist with his recovery. Thus, Tanner will be moving to Edmonton, Alberta immediately to undergo further diagnostic tests, manual therapy, prolo therapy, hyperbaric chamber therapy, and physical therapy. And, whatever else the experts advise him to do. But, all these therapies have a high cost.
In time we are hopeful that Tanner will recover, get back to work, and do a few of the things he loves. He doesn’t want to climb the highest mountain anymore, he just wants less pain-filled days and to lead a “normal” life again.
Our whole family continues to help Tanner in every way we can, but we are looking to the broader community to help financially support Tanner’s recovery. Any donation – large or small – would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, and please share this with your family and friends.
