"God's Got This!" has been my prayer since being diagnosed with breast cancer in June of this year.
Currently I'm at the Hope4Cancer clinic in Cancun, Mexico. I've been here 15 days. Six days to go. It has been an amazing journey. I first heard about this clinic in 2014 after watching a documentary called "The Truth About Cancer". Even though I didn't have cancer at that time, I truly believe God was preparing me for what was coming in my life. Hope4Cancer clinic was highlighted in the documentary. I've watched numerous videos by Dr. Anthony Jiminez who founded the clinic.
After being diagnosed my first thought was to go immediately to the clinic, but after listening to my oncologist and praying about it I decided to do the two rounds of chemo to stop the cancer from growing and to shrink it enough to have the surgery. After the surgery my attention turned to the cancer that was in the inner auxillary gland very close to my heart. After considering radiation. I knew in my heart it was time to go to the clinic. This has been the best decision I could have made. The staff at the clinic are super friendly. The atmosphere is like a family.
Currently there are about a dozen patients all with different types of cancer and stages. There are people from Australia, France, South Africa, Canada and the USA. We all stay at the same hotel so it has been wonderful to get to know each of them and spend a lot of time talking about their different journeys. The other night about 10 of the patients met in the hotel lobby and got together just to spend time praying. Each morning when we get to the clinic we have a devotional before we begin treatments. Arturo leads us in a song sung in Spanish.....we have the words in English. Beautiful! Then we spend time praying. Then it's time to begin treatment.
I won't go into all the different treatments now, but if you are interested I will be happy to tell you about them later. We receive the treatments from about 8AM until 2 or 3 in the afternoon 6 days a week. I've been able to spend some time on the beach just enjoying God's beautiful creation and being quiet and peaceful. I haven't done much touristy things. I feel this time is for me to heal physically, spiritually and emotionally.
One nice surprise has been that Dr. Tony, as everyone calls him, has been here at the clinic. He usually only comes to the clinic a couple times a year. Very nice to meet him and talk with him. I feel it was "God's icing on the cake" to get to meet him.

Lisa will begin the holistic treatment tomorrow with a belief that this is the best approach to winning this battle against the cancer. The treatment time is three weeks at which time there should be some definitive, and hopefully very positive results. Please continue to keep her in your prayers and additional financial support is also welcomed.

UPDATE: October 22, 2018 – From Lisa
Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to give you an update on my plans. After a lot of research and prayer I've decided to pursue a more holistic approach to treating the cancer still in the gland. I will be doing a 3 week treatment beginning Oct 29. After I'm finished with the treatment I will have another CT scan and see if the cancer is reduced or hopefully gone. Then I will decide if it's necessary to proceed with radiation or not.

UPDATE: October 6, 2018 – From Lisa
Received some tough news today. After having a successful surgery (a mastectomy on the right breast) on Sept 17 and healing very well went in to see the radiologist today thinking I was just going in to set up the appointment to begin radiation on the inner auxiliary gland on the left side of my chest that still has cancer. Was originally told that the gland was very close to my heart and lungs, but it is actually resting on the lining of my heart. If I do radiation there's a strong possibility of damage to my heart and lungs. Not sure what I'm going to do yet. Please pray for me.

In early July, Lisa Wyatt was diagnosed with breast cancer.
The purpose of this presentation is to ask your consideration to provide Lisa some needed financial relief as she takes on this battle.
On July 11th Lisa went in for an MRI to get a full picture of what was going on.
Following the MRI, the results revealed that the breast cancer she has is called IDC, which means it has begun to spread, into at least two, three or perhaps more lymph nodes.
Upon meeting with her team of doctors, she learned that the type of cancer she has is very aggressive and that she should promptly begin chemotherapy with the goal of shrinking the tumors before surgery. Localized radiation would then follow the surgery.
Later in July she was in the hospital for several tests and for a port to be placed which proved to be both painful and exhausting.
On the 20th of July, Lisa's sister Diane came from Tennessee to spend a few weeks to assist and support Lisa during all this.
Those of you who know Lisa know that she is always upbeat. Even though such news can be beyond disheartening, Lisa has maintained a positive perspective. She is displaying faith and courage and her confidence in her Lord and the prayers and support of her friends and family are instrumental in her ability to handle this with a surprising level of grace and peace.
Great news! The tests came back negative. The cancer had not spread.
Lisa had researched the different options for treatment that are available and it became time to make the decision as to what avenue to take.
After considering alternatives, chemotherapy was deemed unavoidable. So, in order to shrink it as quickly and as much as possible, chemo took place on August 3rd.
The plan was to undergo two 8-week rounds with an expected completion date around the end of November. Assuming the process was successful, surgery was scheduled for January 2019.
Chemotherapy is nasty and Lisa was administered the most aggressive type. The bad news: It took a toll for several days both physically and emotionally. The good news: The tumor shrunk by almost half.
From one of her email updates:
"Even the oncologist was very surprised and happy. As my sister and I teared-up, so did he and he gave me a big hug. I asked him if the tumor keeps shrinking at this pace could I have surgery after the 4th round. He said absolutely!"
"Thank you for being with me on this journey, praying for me and encouraging me. This is the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my life and I don't think I could do it without the love, support and encouragement from my church family. Please continue to pray for strength that I can complete this task and for complete healing."
"Love you all so much!"
After more than a month of daily time together Diane, Lisa’s sister, returned home.
"She's gone to all the doctor appointments, done some yard work, canned apples and pickles and just been there for me through the first part of this journey. Even on my worst days she loved me through it. Going to miss her, but she needed to get home to her family for a while."
The first chemo treatment was followed by another with the results on August 30th. The tumor continued to shrink.
"Praise God!!! I went in to see the oncologist today and again I was thinking it was my imagination, but I really couldn't feel the tumor at all. The oncologist examined me and said he couldn't feel it either. I asked if I could just have surgery instead of more chemo. He said yes! I'm meeting with the surgeon on Sept 4 and having an MRI before that. The oncologist said he wanted to move quickly so the cancer doesn't begin to grow again. He said that normally he wouldn't have given someone my age this aggressive treatment, but he felt I was in good enough health to handle it. (What did he mean....someone my age?) He said during the 2 chemo treatments my white blood cell count did go to 0 which is normal. What he said was amazing is that all my other numbers stayed normal. Obviously we have to wait and see what the MRI reveals, but if everything is good then I will probably have surgery within the next couple of weeks."
The result of the September 4th doctor visit…
"The tumor has shrunk and has pulled away from the chest muscle meaning that surgery can take place on Monday, Sept 17."
We all view the reality of a projected January surgery vs. one in September as in the miracle realm. God is good!
