TWS Animal Sanctuary kennels

TWS (Todd's Welfare Society) is a small non-profit organisation based in Lahore.  We came into existence after a dog culling incident, when two innocent dogs were shot in broad daylight.  One of the dogs died instantly whilst the second lay badly injured for many hours.  There was no emergency service to help the dog and with great difficulty she was finally taken to the vet.  There the decision was made to put her to sleep humanely and that was the day TWS was formed.  The sole aim of TWS is to save, rescue and treat the street animals of Lahore.  To help those that society has forgotten about.

I myself am the Vice Chair of TWS but am based in the U.K. I joined TWS as the state of street animals in the city of Lahore were I grew up saddened me and I wanted to help these poor wretched creatures. My role is to run our twitter page and fundraise for TWS outside of Pakistan, so that as many animals as possible can be saved. Once the funds are raised I will send them forward to our finance team who will then use the funds to complete the kennels.

In Pakistan there is not RSPCA or any animal right laws in place.  The condition of stray animals in Pakistan is pitiful as stray dogs are shot or poisoned on a regular basis.  Animal abuse is rife and a popular sport is dog fighting.  We at TWS are trying to save animals against a culture where these animals are considered unclean or a nuisance.  These animals have no one to turn to and live a life of pain, abuse and torture.

We had been helping animals with the help of foster homes or private boarding but the need for a sanctuary/shelter was immense, hence we raised funds and thankfully we are now in the third stage of the build. We are pleased to say that the building structure has been fully erected and is in the process of being completed.

Now this is were we need your help, we need to find funds for 19 normal kennels and 20 quarantine kennels.

Quarantine kennels will be for dogs such as Lara suffering from mange who when first rescued had to be kept away from other dogs for risk of infection.

The cost for the completion of a normal kennel comes to £170 whilst for a quarantine kennel the cost is £140. You can either donate towards the kennel or as some kind people have chosen to do is sponsor a kennel in memory of a loved one. If you choose to sponsor then we will put up a name plaque honouring your loved one.

This is Dexter who very kindly agreed to check out the sample kennel for us, we are pleased to say that it met with his seal of approval.

Do help us to build these much needed kennels at the sanctuary as many lives will be saved.

Please note all donations will go towards the sanctuary build as we all work on purely a voluntary basis.
