TIM WATERS & EMILY CARHART’S HORRIFIC HOUSE FIRE!
In the early hours of the 28th of June the Waters family lived through everybody’s worst nightmare. The family home was completely destroyed by a devastating fire that has taken everything from them.
Family story:
The family have endured a 2 year heartbreaking battle with cancer that had already made life extremely difficult.
In 2019, Dad to Tye 12, Bodhi & Mila 9 and partner of 25 years Emily was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer. Tim spent months away from the family in various hospitals where he underwent treatment for his illness. It had caused extensive damage to his spine and legs so was unable to walk for many months. Emily who herself was diagnosed with the debilitating condition of Crohn’s disease 12 years ago and the children suddenly found their lives turned upside down.
Life had not been easy but after a successful stem cell transplant life was beginning to return to a relatively normal existence . Although Tim was unable to return to the job he once loved the family were looking to the future.
However, just after midnight on the 28th of June a fire broke out in the family home.
Tim was awoken by the smoke alarm after falling asleep on the sofa and ran upstairs to find he and Emily’s bedroom doorway engulfed in flames. 2 of the children Tye and his sister Mila had also been awoken and were on the landing. Tim managed to get them both over the banister’s and down away from the flames but Bodhi was still asleep in his bed. He then rushed into his room and pulled him from his bed but in those seconds the landing had become impossible to cross and after 2 attempts failed and the house had filled with smoke he was forced to get Bodhi out of the first floor window as quickly as possible and followed immediately after causing further damage to his already damaged back.
Emily by then, had herself leap through the open window of their bedroom after becoming trapped and sustained multiple severe injuries to her chest wall and limbs. However, in the confusion she had not seen Bodhi and after getting Tye and Mila to safety ran back into the house and up the stairs before hearing the rest of the family screaming that everyone had escaped and they were all reunited outside.
Their eldest sons quick thinking had already alerted the emergency service’s after calling 999 himself.
Both Tim and Bodhi had suffered burns fortunately, Bodhi’s being light and all 5 were rushed to hospital. After being treated the family were discharged the next day.
The family home and a lifetimes contents had been completely destroyed leaving them with nothing.
They were generously given a place to stay by close friends (short term) and owner of a local holiday park where they are currently living.
2 days after the fire Tim became extremely ill and was rushed to Treliske hospital with Toxic Shock / Sepsis after Emily called for an ambulance. He was then transferred to Derriford to the burns unit and was treated over the next few days.
Unfortunately he was in hospital for his sons 12th birthday who sadly tried to celebrate his 3rd birthday in a row with a poorly daddy, although despite her own injuries Emily somehow managed to give him a birthday.
Emily, Tim, Tye, Bodhi and Mila have endured a harrowing few years and have now been cruelly robbed of everything they have worked for as well as the rented farmhouse they have called home for over a decade and the only place the children have known, ever known. Devastatingly they had no contents insurance as they just simply could not afford it as had cut back on many of the regular bills due to Tim's condition and inability to work.
Please help them in any way to find their feet again and start over, giving them a chance to move forward and find some security for the next period of their lives.
