aj azevedo...was diagnosed with a mixed glioma inoperable brain tumor in october 2007 which stemmed from a standard lion club screening at the elementary school he was attending. it is on the brain stem, cerebellar area n where the 3rd ventricle drains into the fourth. he had two brain surgeries that first month...a ventriculostomy and a week later stereotactic surgery which after 8 hours they were unable to remove hardly any of it. he had a port a cath put in and we did almost a year and a half of chemo...his port was picky so he had to lay with his arm extended for 8 hours each day he got the drugs. radiation was our light at the end of the tunnel...or so we believed. this last year after radiation has proven to be a disappointment. with the last mri we learned there is no longer one cyst but 5 and the enhancement is growing, the mass is growing...the monster inside my childs head is showing no mercy. he will now be undergoing another brain surgery and more chemo afterward. i never thought i would find myself in this position. i am a hard worker...i am thankful that i have a job...and even though i only have part time benefits because of my own health issues (back surgery and rehabilitation)...i am thankful that i do not carry the full burden of his medical bills, and insurance will pick up some of it. missing work, keeping our vehicle is running condition, a week in the hospital after surgery, and driving back and forth between boise and twin falls once a week for a year, will take a huge chunk...not to mention the medical bills in its wake. so i am reaching out to u.... please help me to be able to relax a little and put all my worry where it needs to be....with my child. i will keep this site updated in his progress and post pics along the way. thank you for taking the time to learn about my son, and considering making a donation. the money will go to medical bills and travel. if you would rather send a gas card or other donation....please mail directly to aj azevedo, po box 5234, twin falls, idaho, 83303. god bless and thank you!
