Dear Family and Friends,
Many of you know that I have been struggling on a daily basis in managing the pain and symptoms of my scolisis which has gotten progressively worse over the last two years. As heart breaking as it was I sold my beloved doggy daycare in the hopes that the progression would at least slow down. Sadly, this has not happened. Now I am faced with the last alternative which is intensive invasive surgery.
I was originally scheduled to have surgery April 19th. It was to be minimally invasive. Doctors have now recommended that I move my surgery up to March 18th in order to prevent further damage to the nerves that provide mobility in my legs. This surgery will require my back to be opened up from thoracic vertebrae 4 down to the sacrum. It is no longer a minimally invasive 5 hour surgery; it is now an intensive 10 hour surgery. Of course the recovery period has now also been increased, included going to a rehabilitation center post-surgery.
My health insurance is to cover most of the surgery, however I am expected to make a down payment of at least $4,000 before the date of my surgery. To complicate matters worse, the company my husband works for, which has allowed him to work from home, is now having finanical difficulty. His expected payroll has already been delayed and we do not know when we can expect any financial income. The money we worked hard to save for my operation and my rehabiliatation is now supporting our daily living instead of being preserved for my up coming medical needs. He is pursuing other avenues but knows he will be needed to be with me in my recovery for at least the first few months,
Those of you who know me well, know that I am not one to ask for assistance, even when I should, however I am asking for your help now. Any contribution you could make would certainly make a world of difference as I need to focus on the upcoming weeks and my rehabiitation. I am so looking forward to this period of my life to be over and be able to enjoy all that life has ahead for me, even as simple as taking a walk with my dear husband and dog!
