Anne's Hernia Repair Surgery

My mom, Anne, pictured on the left of the main photo, has a right femoral hernia that continues to become more of an issue. The hernia was first diagnosed New Year's 2013. At that time, her appendix was poking through the hernia and had become infected. They did emergency surgery to remove the appendix but didn't repair the hernia. They said she had probably had it for some time, but that it was small and they didn't feel it needed to be repaired. It started flaring up at the end of last year causing her 3 trips to the ER, all of which were not fruitful in getting her the help she truly needs. Unfortunately she is uninsured, and therefore has been unable to have the surgery. However, during her most recent ER visit she went to a different hospital and finally found a good surgeon who can schedule the surgery as early as next week (the end of April 2018). They are giving her a discounted rate since she is uninsured, but even after the discount, the total is estimated at $7166.19. They ask for at least half of that up front and payment arrangements for the remainder, so I wanted to reach out to my friends and family to help if you are able and to spread the word. My mom hates asking for help. At first she was resistant to the idea of me starting this GoFundMe campaign, but reluctantly agreed when I approached her with the idea. She is the type of person who will give out of the last that she has to make sure others are taken care of, and she doesn't like asking others for help herself. We are reaching out because Mom is in constant pain with the hernia and we want her suffering to finally be over and her to be able to have the surgery she so desperately needs. All funds collected will go toward the surgery. Any donation, however small, will be helpful and we will be so grateful.
