Support Vernon's Defense

Donation protected
While attending a PBR event at the BOK center in September 2014, Shane Vernon witnessed a woman being sexually harassed by a gentleman, which included her rear end being groped. Upon witnessing the altercation and seeing the woman upset, Shane came to check on the woman and ask if she knew the man who had just touched her, the woman did not. Having a wife and daughter of his own, the actions of this man were beyond disrespectful to Shane. Shane proceeded to follow the man to his seats and confronted him. Shane scolded the man about his disgusting actions; the gentleman denied his actions saying, "I don't know what you are talking about, I'm here with my wife". After hearing the man's response, Shane threw the man's cigars and hat into the rodeo arena. They were separated and Shane walked back up the stairs.

The Tulsa Police have pressed charges against the man for sexual battery due to the nature of his actions against the woman of whom he grabbed. Because of his actions the man has lost his job and is facing serious charges. After having a warrant put out for his arrest the man turned himself in. He admitted to his actions, even demonstrating how he grabbed the young woman. He blamed his behavior on being intoxicated.

The man is now suing Shane for assault and battery, along with 10 thousand dollars in damages. The man claims Vernon intended to humiliate him and assaulted him, while also claiming that he never assaulted the woman in the first place. Witnesses have come forward in Shane's defense confirming that there was absolutely no physical attack done by Shane and the man's claims are unjust.

Shane is now faced with having to pay to stand up and do the right thing.

In efforts to help fund the necessary legal expenses for Shane's defense, we have set up this account. Any funds that are not needed for court /attorney fees will be fully donated to DaySpring Villa Women and Children's Shelter. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated by the Vernon family.
