My family in Gaza needs your help: Donate now

Dear friends,

Once upon a time, there was a family of six living in Gaza. The father was a hardworking man who provided for his family by working long hours accountant at the Bank of Palestine . The mother was a homemaker who took care of their four children. The eldest child, a 12-year-old girl, was a bright student who loved to read and write. The other three children were aged 10, 6, and 2. They were a happy family, but their lives were turned upside down when the conflict in Gaza escalated.

The family was forced to flee their home and seek refuge in a nearby shelter. They had to leave behind everything they owned and start from scratch. The shelter was overcrowded, and the family had to share a small room with other families. They had no access to clean water, food, or medical care. The children were scared and traumatized by the violence they had witnessed.

I feel helpless. Living in Canada, I have done everything possible to try to evacuate my family from Gaza. I have pleaded with the media, with the State Department as a citizen of canada. No action has been taken while my family members remain in grave danger of losing their lives every second they are in Gaza. I have already lost more than 7 family members in this aggression: my uncle and his children and aunt .

My entire family lost their homes, as you can see in the pictures linked below. Our family home that held 30 years of memories is gone, along with the comfort and joy it offered us. When I look at pictures of my home, I do not recognize a single place. My favorite spots have turned to rubble, as I grew up and spent my childhood in Gaza.

I have lost communication with my brother for many day's in the North of Gaza. As I get reports of men who have been executed at point blank in their own homes in front of their mothers and wives, my heart seizes.

My brother in the South live in tents with no access to clean water, little food, and no medical assistance or proper restrooms. They not only face the threat of bombs but also the threat of disease and illness.

My heart cannot be at ease until I am able to reunite with my brother and his kids. I cannot lose them the way I lost my mother.

My brother have 4 children who are under the age of sixteen that are suffering from anxiety and fear.

Your contributions, no matter how small, will save their lives to be able to evacuate to a safe place. I live in constant worry for their lives and safety, my sleep has suffered. My mental health has suffered. But I am embarrassed to speak about my own suffering when the people who I love most are living in the conditions that they are living in.
The Canadian Immigration Service announced that it will open a special program for Canadians who have relatives in the Gaza Strip on 1/9/2024. They will be able to bring them to Canada. But Canada does not bear any expenses for these families, including housing, food, or flight tickets. All of this requires large sums of money that I cannot cover alone.

Your contributions would help fund the following:

- $55,000 for Permits and Crossing Fees: The bulk of the funds for this campaign will be used to cover the expenses associated with obtaining permits to leave Gaza and crossing fees required at the Egypt-Gaza border in Rafah. The amount breaks down to around $7,000 per adult and $1,000 per child,

- $5000 for Immediate Relief: This portion will be used to provide immediate assistance to my family as they find their way to safety. It will cover their accommodations, food, and other essentials.
- Approximately $1900 to cover transaction fees for GoFundMe (2.9% + $0.30 per transaction)

Your donation, no matter how small, will make an impact. You will be contributing to getting my family to safety and getting us one step closer to our reunion. The funds will be used transparently and every dollar will go towards securing their evacuation.

Please share this campaign widely to help us reach our goal and bring my family to safety. Your support means more than you can imagine and I am incredibly grateful for any assistance you can provide during this challenging time.

Thank you for your compassion and generosity. Together, we can make change and help my family find the safety and security they need.

In solidarity and gratitude,

Mahmoud aburamadan
