Hi! My name is Lewis Whitcombe, I am a 21 year old aspiring professional cyclist from Bristol, UK. I have been racing for 2.5 years and with help from family, close friends and any further contributions; I will be making the move to racing in France, for the 2021 season. I will Race for Team VCA Du Bourget situated just outside Paris.
My cycling journey began by simply commuting to college using my mountain bike, and when this was unfortunately stolen, I decided to buy a road bike. After this, I invested in a heart rate monitor, and from this point onward I was addicted to riding my road bike. I began to take cycling more seriously, and quickly signed up for my first race at odd down race circuit where i finished a respectable 8th! Quickly showing my ability to race, I was picked up by Bikestrong-Ktm Domestic race team based in the South West. Since then I have been successful in the Tour series, notoriously the hardest circuit racing in the UK. I have also competed in the national road race series (the highest level road racing in UK). In addition to this, I competed on the continent in Belgium against pro riders and top level amateurs.
Despite the corona virus putting an end to the possibility of a full racing season, I continued to train hard throughout lock down and then won my only race of the year in late August! I have decided to make the jump across to the continent in the hope for more opportunities to gain traction and rise up the ranks. I will be racing at a national level in France With VCA Du Bourget and living near Paris.
I will consistently be updating on my social media platforms to show how these funds are being spent. Any contributions would be massively appreciated and will go towards funding my accommodation and any racing related costs when in france. Thank you for your time.
