We were chosen to speak at a national conference that is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! However, we need to raise money to get there and to attend the actual conference. Please help us make a difference in our students' lives. Read on and donate!
Jennifer Martin and Kelly Hui are both special education teachers at Meadowdale Elementary School in Lynnwood, WA. Jennifer is the Primary Intensive Support teacher (grades 1-3) and Kelly is the Intermediate Intensive Support teacher (grades 4-6). These students have significant cognitive, language, behavioral, and sensory needs.
Jennifer and Kelly have been selected to present with a team of four alongside with professors at Seattle Pacific University at a national conference: "Intersections: Arts and and Special Education Conference" at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C. on August 7-8, 2013. This is a unique conference which presents practices, policies, and research at the forefront of serving students with disabilities through arts and special education. Jennifer (music) and Kelly (dance) will share their expertise with others, but they will also attend other presentations to gain knowledge and share innovating ways to engage our students and to increase their participation in the learning process back to Meadowdale Elementary School.

We must register for the conference, fly to DC, and find accommodations (the hotel associated with the conference is giving the rate of $150/night, rental car, parking fees of $30/day). And on top of that, we as presenters have registration fees of $225 each. The conference hosts are not assisting with these expenses... (Welcome to Education!)
