Mollie Smith, Broken Neck 1/10/20

Hello, my name is Mollie Smith, i am 23 years old, on November 4 th, 2019 I backed into a tractor and unknowingly broke my neck, as i only felt whiplash at the time. On January 10th 2020, i was still dealing with a stiff neck, as i tried to stretch it bones fiercely were rubbing together and i could not move. I went to the emergency room in Charles City Iowa due to extreme neck pain/not being able to move my neck. X rays and CT scans were taken right away and we found out I broke my neck after my CT scan, an ambulance transferred me 2 hours from Charles City, Iowa to Rochester MInnesota, where we then discovered I broke my C2 vertebrae in my spine. I had options of surgery, but there are pros and cons. I am starting out with a neck brace to see if it can heal slowly on it’s own (this will take around 3 months) if this does not work, a halo will be put on me, my neck does pop in and out of place and is very unstable, and very painful. If my neck continues to be in pain after a few weeks, surgery will be done. I met with the spinal doctors and surgery would consist of putting screws in to stabilize my neck. I was told I was very close to complete paralyzation, with my fracture being just centimeters away from my spinal cord. I am asking for help because I am unable to work for several months. I don’t have anything but pillows at home to help me lay down in bed. It is very difficult for me to get comfortable, or fall asleep. I’m asking for help with my medical expenses, paying for the ambulance ride, Ct scans, x rays, etc. I have a very long road of recovery ahead of me, and I could use lots of support, prayers, positivity, and strength from my friends and family.
