Support Lindsey Shelton and Family

Donation protected
Hello Friends and Family,

My name is Michael Shelton and with a lot of persuading, I was finally able to get my wife Lindsey Shelton’s approval to start a GoFundMe campaign. It’s been difficult for us to reach out and ask for help because we know so many people have it far worse than we do, but we can’t deny that we need support during this unexpected time.

I’m including a brief overview of what happened to us and why we need your help at the bottom of this post in case you don’t have time to read the full story. Thank you so much in advance!

Please do us a huge favor and SHARE this on your social media channels and help us spread the word for our family in need!

Here’s what happened..

Totally Unexpected

Lindsey is currently pregnant with our first baby boy who was due for delivery on October 11. We’ve already named him Hunter Michael Shelton!

We were on our last night of vacation Wednesday, August 15 during our annual Gulf Shores beach trip (this time our “baby moon”) when Lindsey’s water unexpectedly broke at 32 weeks pregnant.

We rushed her to a nearby Regional Medical Center where after doing several tests, we received the news that our baby was going to be born premature and there was no way we could get back to Memphis safely before the birth.

Lindsey was then transported to a Pediatric Emergency Department in Mobile, AL where we are currently stationed.

She is confined to her hospital bed until August 30th when doctors are going to perform a potential C-section. Doctors are keeping Lindsey confined to the bed for 14 days because they want to keep the baby inside of her until the 34 week mark to ensure our boy’s safe development as a premature baby.

We are currently considered a high-risk pregnancy, and Lindsey is being poked, prodded and monitored every hour to watch the safety of her and the baby.

It is also possible that doctors will have to perform an emergency C-section at any moment in time. Our baby is currently at risk for infection since Lindsey’s water broke and he is going through momentary periods of decreased heart rate from a lack of fluid.

The team here at USA Children’s and Women’s is absolutely amazing, and they are monitoring Lindsey constantly to ensure that neither of these risks come to fruition.

We Need Help

We are asking for financial support from friends and family during this scary time. Once our baby is born, he will spend several weeks in the NICU here in Mobile. Lindsey and I will be staying down here for however long it takes and we don’t leave his side.

With Lindsey’s C-section extended recovery stage and Hunter’s recovery time in NICU, we will not be able to make it back to Memphis until potentially early to mid October.

How We’ll Use The Funds

During this time, I will not be able to work to provide income for Lindsey and the family. Additionally, we have no idea what the medical costs are going to be for Lindsey’s extended stay and Hunter’s time in the NICU. We are blessed to have health insurance, but we need help with our deductible and out of pocket costs to cover the initial services.

All funds we receive will go directly to:

1. Covering out-of-pocket medical costs
2. Recovering from lost wages during our extended stay in Mobile, AL

In our current moment of need, any donation is greatly appreciated. And if you can’t give, we totally understand! Prayers are welcome from everyone!

Please do us a huge favor and SHARE this on your social media channels and help us spread the word!

Lindsey and I love our family and friends so much and thank you in advance for your love and support. Keep spreading the word for us!

Best,

Lindsey, Michael and Hunter Shelton

"Too Long, Didn't Read" Overview

Lindsey’s water broke at 32 weeks during our last night on vacation in Gulf Shores, AL and we are now going to have to give a premature birth in Mobile, AL. We’ve been told by doctors we will not be able to return to Memphis for potentially 6-8 weeks while Lindsey is held bedside prior to having a potential C-section scheduled for August 30th. We will then have to stay down here with our premature son for several weeks while he is in NICU and Lindsey recovers from the procedure. We need help covering out-of-pocket costs and living costs that we can’t cover due to lost wages since Michael can’t work while he is away from Memphis. Any and all donations are appreciated and please SHARE on your social media channels. Prayers are welcome too! Much love!
