Support empowerment and education in folklore
Donation protected
Hey guys, thank you for getting involved and checking out this fundraiser. I know we’ve all been looking for ways to practically give back, and this is just one of the many ways you can do that!
Part of the funds will be used to organise an educative workshop in folklore/traditional music, and to support mentorship of young black artists who are interested in knowing more about their culture. Your contribution will make a real difference, and help us cover the costs of equipment and venue hire in order to make this happen.
By raising this money we’ll also be able to make this workshop free of charge for young black kids and adults who would normally be interested in attending, but are deterred due to lack of finances.
-About the workshop-
My band, Balimaya Project, and I will be teaching about the history and culture of West Africa, and run workshops ranging from Djembe, Dounoun, Talking Drums, Balafon, Kora and traditional songs, to Congas and the jazz instruments such as Trumpet, Trombone, Keys, Guitar and much more. There will also be a Q&A session at the end of each day.
The other part of the money raised will go to Black Minds Matter UK. It’s important that we invest in healing and in the mental wellbeing of our community, so we are better equipped with the tools we need to move forward.
I’m very grateful for your contribution no matter how small, and if you can’t donate, sharing could be just as valuable as the message will touch others in your community and circle. Thanks in advance!!!
