Support in Place - Save Clement Street Businesses #SmallBusinessRelief
The Clement Street Merchant Association is raising funds for local businesses being hit by the shelter in place order, to purchase gift cards from our local merchants that will then be passed on to local non-profits and community members in need. A donation to this campaign supports both the local businesses that make Clement Street what it is, as well as gives back to people in our community who are struggling. Let's support each other during this time so that we all have a stronger community to come back to.

Here's what we're doing:
1. Identifying the needs of local businesses
2. Buying gift cards with donated funds
3. Donating those gift cards to local charities to support San Franciscans in need
Here's how you can help:
1. Donate to the general fund
2. Leave a comment if you want your funds to go toward a particular business
3. Share the word -- send this fund to as many people and organizations as possible
4. Stay healthy, patient with one another, and persistent in helping our community
5. Check out what businesses are still open and consider visiting (https://www.clementstreetsf.com/)
Examples of Need:
Green Apple Books had to furlough its entire union staff from all three stores. They are trying to keep a handful of managers on staff to process internet orders so that when they open up, they will have at least a few people to help rebuild. They're also paying health insurance through the end of April for all staff (including those furloughed). So far landlords have not offered any rent abatement, and cash is quickly running low.
