Welcome Adane's family to Arlington

Many people have gotten to know Adane, the Ethiopian gentleman with the huge smile who works at Antoine’s Auto Repair across from Trader Joes in Arlington Heights. After more than 6 years apart, Adane 's wife and 3 children have been granted visas to come live with him in the US. The family arrived on Friday, December 15th! They are finally together.
It was an incredibly long series of flights from Ethiopia to Boston, but the whole family arrived smiling. In fact, Adane’s daughters arrived running.... right into his arms. Mom was exhausted after traveling across the world with a newborn and 2 young girls.
While Adane was at the airport picking up his family, a group of neighbors and friends set up their new apartment. Thanks to the generosity of this community, we had a lot to move in and unpack. We transformed an empty space into a warm and welcoming home, complete with framed pictures of the family, a glittering Christmas tree, cozy beds, and home cooked Ethiopian meals in the fridge.
Adane was speechless when he saw what this community had done for him. He folded his hands in prayer and fought back tears as he entered each room. He said it was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen!
His daughters were overjoyed with the beautiful bunk beds and drawers full of warm clothes. They quickly started trying things on and modeling their new slippers, jackets and fancy shirts. The best part was watching them smile together from the top of their new bunkbed.
