We believe that every child should have the opportunity to experience the joy and self-expression that comes with dance. For children in low-income communities, access to high-quality arts programs can be limited. We need your help in continuing to provide an affordable and inclusive dance program for youth in The Bronx.

Your donation will help keep our program running and continue to make a positive impact on the lives of young people. Research has shown that participation in arts programs like ours can improve self-esteem, academic performance, and even physical health. But the benefits go beyond that. Dance is a powerful tool for self-expression and storytelling, and we want to give every child the chance to discover the beauty and power of their voice.

After a successful 1st year in our studio space and Annual showcase in June, we’ve had an increase in local families' interest in enrolling their children in our program.

Our goal for the 2022 fall semester is to secure sponsors for 20 students. Your sponsorship will cover the monthly fees ($40) for a student for the semester and allow them the opportunity to participate in our program.

Here’s how you can help us reach our goal:

June 9, 2022 - Update

Welp, we did it. In September 2021, we obtained our studio in The Bronx, which was a huge accomplishment. Now that we're here, we want to stay. Please help us to keep our studio so we may continue to provide affordable dance classes to our current students and youth in The Bronx. Our program provides at-risk youth of The Bronx with a creative, inclusive and safe space to be themselves without the pressures of outside influences (Social media, peer pressure...), encouraging an active lifestyle.

Previous (2018 - 2019)

WILL•I•D.A.N.C.E (Discipline. Achievement. Nurture. Character. Excellence.) is the passion project created by two inner-city Bronx women, who know first hand what the long-term impact of strong, positive female role models within our communities can be. 

Since 2016, W•I•D has utilized space in Manhattan to teach dance classes to young ladies, ages 6-16, from The Bronx. We currently teach 4 disciplines; African, Caribbean, Ballet/Lyrical and Hip-hop. Each class is 60 minutes and includes nurturing lessons in personal development areas such as self-awareness, problem solving, conflict resolution and teamwork. Our program engages youth and their families, to create a safe space both in our studio and at home, where self-expression and discipline help build confidence and a positive self image.

We are raising money to open a studio in the The Bronx to better serve our community and continue our mission of "Building & strengthening the character of youth by fostering creative development and self-expression through *D.A.N.C.E.” The Bronx has the some of worst health statistics in NYC in poverty, lack of education, and childhood obesity according to NYS Department of Health. Coupled with a high population of low-income residents, without programs like ours this trend will only continue. A space in The Bronx will increase our presence, allowing us to provide more classes and services encouraging a healthy lifestyle, and providing a positive activity to “at-risk" youth. Additionally, it will allow easy access to a community where “carfare” is one of the biggest barriers to participation because finances should never dictate our youth’s ability to better themselves.

Our goal of $100,000 will be used for construction, designing and renovation of a space and purchase of supplies (mirrors, floors, bars,etc...) to turn our space into a optimal, safe dance studio for conducting classes.
