SUPPORT FOR THE WOOD FAMILY

As friends of the Wood family, we have put together this Go Fund Me page to help with the financial burden for Sean and Elana.
Some of you may be aware of Elana’s recent diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. It was first diagnosed in June, after a bout of food poisoning brought her to the emergency department where scans revealed that her abdominal pain was related to a condition far more more serious. As you know, Elana is positive and optimisitic by nature and expressed how grateful she was that she met the criteria for surgery, which is only possible in 20% of such diagnoses. Elana underwent surgery to remove the cancer on July 31st and her recovery was remarkable.
Elana and Sean prepared themselves for the road ahead and chemotherapy options for treatment up until Sept 28th, when they received more devastating news....
a follow up scan showed that the cancer moved into her liver and it is now stage 4. Elana remains determined to focus on what is best for Sean and her family with the limited time she has. She remains strong, family focussed and amazingly positive- always asking about others, how they are doing and what’s new in their worlds. This is Elana- she puts others before herself and always takes the time to listen. A vast number of amazing qualities draw us to the Wood family. They are generous and kind, they raise their children to care for others and are always there to share their time and talents.
Why we are doing this…The Wood family would give the shirt off their back if it was the last thing they had. They have been a huge part of the Waterpolo community for many years and have provided a great deal of support, time and effort and this goes far beyond Waterpolo. They are admired and loved by their family and friends.
Of course it goes without saying that the Wood family would never ask for us to initiate this fund raising page. We know that you are likely struggling to know how to help and show support during this very difficult time and will appreciate a mode of helping off-set the cost of airfare for their university age kids (Tristan and Rhianna), in addition to all of the many other costs they will face on a daily basis.
It’s our turn to give back. We all know that the road ahead is going to be a long one, but we are hoping that you can make this a much easier journey with some financial help in the months to come.
Nothing is too little and we appreciate anything you may be able to donate. It’s not possible to put into words how thankful and overwhelmed the Wood family is with all the love and support that has come together so far.
