Voici la famille Supiar composée de 8 membres : la plus agée, Supiar (50 ans) est mère de trois filles et d’un garcon : Sima (25 ans), Pari (20 ans), Sandiu (17 ans, enceinte) et leur frere Bablu (16 ans). Sima a trois enfants : Pooja (7 ans), Kusi (5 ans) et Muskan (1 an et demi).
Here is the 8 people of Supiar family : the oldest, Supiar (50 years old) is the mother of three girls and one boy : Sima (25 y.o) Pari (20 y.o), Sandiu (17 y.o, pregnant) and their brother Bablu (16 y.o). Sima has three children : Pooja (7 y.o), Kusi (5 y.o) and Muskan (1 and a half y.o).
HISTOIRE
Sima fait figure de chef de famille. Sont travail consistait à faire le commerce de bijoux jusqu'au jour où elle a tout perdu. Depuis, la famille survit grâce à l’aide des étrangers qu’elle rencontre dans les rue de Puskar, lesquels sont invités à prendre le thé et à partager leur repas chez eux, lorsque possible.
Sima’s running the family. She had a small jewelry business until she lost everything. Since then they manage to survive thanks to the help of foreigners they meet in the Puskar’s streets, bringing them at their home to sharing tea or a meal when it’s possible.
SITUATION
La famille est installée sur un terrain vague de Puskar, dans la province de Rajasthan, qu’occupent une cinquantaine de familles comme la leur, tous vivants en tentes. La tente Supiar est endommagée, ce qui n’arrange pas les choses étant donné la grande chaleur et la saison des pluies (juin à aout).
The family’s living under a tent on a wasteland in Puskar, Rajasthan’s province. Their tent is broken which is quite a problem according to the great heat and the raining season (june to august).
INTENTION
L’objectif est de leur permettre de relancer leur commerce afin qu’ils puissent de nouveau subvenir eux-même à leurs besoins. Pour ce faire ils ont besoin d’un minimum de 5kg de bijoux qu’ils se procurent à Agra (environ 400km à l’est). Ces 5kg leur couteront 12 500 roupies, ce qui correspond à 257 dollars canadiens (1 cad : 48 inr). Il faut compter 1 mois pour tout écouler, une partie des profits sera destinée à l’achat d’autres bijoux et le reste à leurs dépenses personnelles.
Voici donc leurs besoins immédiats :
- Nouvelle tente : 6 000 inr (124$)
- 5kg de bijoux : 12 500 inr (257$)
- Nourriture pour 1 mois (1 000 inr/jour pour
les 8 membres de la famille) : 30 000 inr (617$)
Total : 48 500 inr (998$)
Dans le cas où les dons excèdent l'objectif fixé, d'autres plans seront envisageables (par exemple, il en coûte 10 000 inr (207$) pour envoyer un enfant à l'école pour un an, et 20 000 inr (414$) pour 3 enfants).
The objective is to restart their business so they could live by their own again. Then they will need a minimum of 5kg of jewelry they used to buy in Agra (400km eastward) for 12 500 roupies which is around 257 canadian dollars (1 cad : 47 inr). It should takes one month to sell all the jewelry. They will use a part of the benefits to buy more jewelry and the rest for their personal needs.
So here’s their current needs :
