Due to a bad fall on Oct. 30th, Sunny is in ICU for traumatic brain injuries with internal bleeding as well as a right arm fracture.
He is occasionally semi-conscious as we simply wait to see if he can recover at all and if he does, to what extent.
His vitals are stable. Keeping him very quiet and immobile with minimal pain meds while being tube fed is the only plan the doctors have at this time. To date (Nov 8th), the brain bleed has not caused enough swelling to warrant surgery. So we wait, hold his hand, and wait some more.
Sunny has been a friend to so many for so long - whether you knew him well or just in passing, he always took the time to talk and befriend those around him. Now he needs us - needs our help - something that if he could talk he wouldn't ask for, so we are asking for him. Our chance to give back to a man who although didn't have much to give, always gave his time and love.
Funds are needed to cover:
1) STORAGE. Friends of the family propse covering at least 4 months of his storage unit so his three adult children (Chauncey, Amalia, and Jewell) can postpone having to face going through Sunny's stuff. The storage unit costs a whopping $360/mo.
2) LONG TERM CARE. Sunny may survive and yet not have the faculties required to live unassisted. Ouch.
3) END OF LIFE PREARATION. Sunny may not survive this ordeal and we need to be prepared. Double ouch.
The object o this fundraiser is to take some pressure off Sunny's kids who are reeling with watching their dad hang in limbo between the worlds.
