Sunday's Cancer Treatment

Sunday is my 7yr old Pittie, about 7 weeks ago(May 1st) she took a spill on our hardwood floors, she slightly limped for a few days before I took her to the Vet thinking it would be something that would work itself out. The Vet treated her for a sprain, it slowly started to go away before she relapsed May 17th. Took her to the Vet again, they said nothing was broken but to keep her on limited exercise, prescribed Rimadyl and to follow up in 4 weeks. The Vet said if she didn't get better we may have to discuss knee surgery. Two weeks later I noticed a cracked paw pad in her right rear leg(her limping leg). Did some research and since it went unnoticed, it was blistered enough to cause the limping she's had for weeks, had a sigh of relief thinking I had found the cause of her limping. Took Sunday in for her follow up, addressed the paw pad crack she had, the vet said the blistering was enough to definitely be the cause of her limping. She went on to examine the rest of her leg and noticed she had swelling in her knee. They xrayed her leg and the results showed what they thought may be cancer or a fungal infection. Took her to a 2nd opinion only to confirm my worst nightmare, my girl indeed has cancer. Her leg needs to be amputated to relieve her of the pain she's enduring and to stop the potential spread of cancer into the rest of her body. She will also need a round of chemo to kill any cancer cells that may have already spread. So far test results confirm that there is no current spread. 

My girl went from walking 2-5 miles a day to just being taken out to release  few feet outside our apartment. Limited her time outdoors, removed all toys, and had no visitors over, as she would get too excited, and I was trying to heal her "sprained" leg. Her life was pretty much indoors now, from 3 walks a day and weekend hikes to being crated most of the day. I noticed she started getting depressed, she didnt want to come out of her crate when I would walk in the house, when she would alwats greet me at the door when she heard me comng. I want my girl bck, and for that to happen she desperately needs a surgery I can't afford, so I dare to ask for a donation for her medical treatment, I also ask for lots of prayers for a miracle to happen.

She's been by my side since she was born, I have always looked out for her. She's always been healthy and fit, never been sick or injured. Dealing with the fact that she has cancer is heartbreaking, she's always eaten healthy, been active, always took care of her and of all her needs, so it's a shocker and life altering to find out she's battling cancer. She's my best friend, my loyal companion, my loving "nina"(girl) and I will never be able to repay all that she has done for me, all the life lessons I've learned since she's been in my life. Thanks to her I know what unconditional love means. She's silly, feisty, incredibly smart, loyal, loving, and loves the great outdoors, just like her momma, always up for an adventure, and boy have we had some. She's been there in the brightest of days, and the darkest ones too, without skipping a beat she's always in more ways than one been there. Always finds a way to cheer me up when she knows I'm sad, like now, she picks up on my sadness and tries to play with me or gets my attention even though she's under a lot of pain. It's my time to be there for her, she needs me and I need her. We still have more adventures to experience, and I want to be able to give her that, please help me help her!
