Summer Jobs for Youth

Roosevelt Community Revitalization Group’s (also known as RCRG), mission is to promote the community and economic revitalization of Roosevelt, N.Y., and its contiguous communities. For the past seven (7) years, we have sponsored the Roosevelt Community Farmers market, (RCFM).   – Featured in the New York Times, our market fills a void in providing fresh fruit and vegetables to the community, and also provides local High School students a paid hands-on experience which teaches basic life skills through an entrepreneurial experience.  Students use the learned skills to help them navigate High School, choose a college and career to build better futures.

For some of our students, this is their first job experience.   Many of them have gone on to other employment and/ or to college.  Many of our college students return and act as mentors and peer educators for the new students.  

As minimum wage rates increase, it becomes challenging to be able to hire students for this project.
Your donations will allow us to increase the number of students we train and to continue the access to healthy food options in our community.
