The Sula Clubhouse is an integral part of the Sula Community. The clubhouse is a place where everyone is welcome on a daily basis.
History : The Sula Clubhouse is a log building, about 2500 sq./ft with a complete kitchen, library, restrooms, a large open main room, a piano and seating for over 60 people. After burning down, local volunteers decided to rebuild the clubhouse, and over 3 years, beginning in 1985, raised the money and materials necessary to build the clubhouse. Recently, in 2007. the entire outside was refurbished through raffles and donations of the materials and labor.
Usuage : In the past, the Clubhouse has been host to Elections, Blood Drives, Senior Meals, and Fire Information Meetings (especially in 2000). The Clubhouse currently serves the Sula Country Life Club, Sula Volunteer Fire Department, our local Church, QRU, Sula Historical Society, Sula Cemetery Association, and Forest Service meetings.
Expenses / Income : Currently, the expenses for Propane, Electric, Trash and Insurance to keep the Clubhouse open is $406 a month. That cost will go up if repairs are needed. In the next few years, the Clubhouse will need repairs to the kitchen counters, new flooring in the kitchen, and also new wallpaper for the kitchen and bathrooms. Every two years the main floor maintenance schedule runs about $500 to buff and resurface the floor. As with all our expenses, we are currently looking into other more cost effective products that will also last longer. The Clubhouse is also available for rentals, and we are currently working on advertising to bring more attention to the Clubhouse features and what it has to offer.
Needs : Currently we have 3 months of funds left to maintain the Clubhouse and keep it open, as long as no repairs come up in that time. Our next step is to seek 501c3 status so that we can request donations on a regular basis throughout the Community to be able to maintain the cost of the Clubhouse.
Update : On November 14, 2014 we have received our 501c3 status so that thru donations and grants we can continue to sustain the Clubhouse for not just a few months, but for years to come. #81-0486133. For every $5000, the Clubhouse will be maintained for 1 year (at current expenses). Thank you for your generosity and support of the Sula Community Clubhouse.
