Striding Out with Battling On (Veterans 30 miler)

Battling On is a multi-award-winning Community Interest Company (CIC) supporting our most vulnerable UK armed forces veterans in the Southwest. We are based on a 124-acre care farm near Callington in Cornwall. We offer a safe space, a green environment and the camaraderie of other likeminded veterans coupled with a range of onsite (at Merryhue Farm) and offsite (in the local community) veteran led activities to help reduce and alleviate a range of mental health issues, including low confidence, lack of self-esteem, social anxiety, depression, and PTSD. We aim to support veterans, reduce loneliness, and help them to lead more fulfilling lives.
The catchment area for Battling On includes East Cornwall, West Devon, and Plymouth. Our cohort of male and female veterans are wide ranging and include people with both physical disabilities and/or mental health difficulties and come from all branches of the armed forces.
In August 2022, we will be ‘Striding Out’ across Dartmoor in order to complete the Royal Marines 30 miler. The objective for this endeavour is to give those participating a meaningful purpose and sense of achievement. They will work as a team, improve fitness, confidence, and self-esteem; and hopefully raise some much-needed funds to improve and enhance planned and on-going activities.
