Recovery from surgery

Donation protected
Steve Doherty is a very loving and giving guy.  All that know him love him.  He's that guy that's there to help anytime you ask.  All you have to do is pick up the phone.  Steve is now in need of our help.  He needs to have knee surgery.   He has been living in pain for months and continuing to get worse and worse due to no insurance. He recently was able to get on an insurance policy and went to the doctor only to find out that His ACL and Miniscus are torn completely in half.   The doctor said at some point his bones will come out his legs because there is nothing holding them in.  The doctor is going to have to use Cadavers to repair his knee.  Though he has insurance now the cost of the surgery with his copay and then rehab copay's ($110 a visit multiple times a week) will be a pretty good cost to him.

Those of you that know Steve know that he's hard headed and proud.  Even though he can barely walk and doesn't sleep at night due to the pain, he thinks he will cancel the surgery.  He is worried about being able to support his family and pay his portion of the bills and copay's and he doesn't like to be a burden on anyone while he can't work.  He's worrying so much about how he can have surgery and still fulfill his obligations that he's making himself physically sick with worry.

Me being just as hard headed and not too proud to ask for help :)(for someone else anyway)  have told him not to cancel the surgery because we will make it work somehow.  He's probably gonna kill me but this is the only "somehow" I could come up with.  I thought about a small benefit but it's really such a small amount of money (when relating to the work of a benefit) that I thought this may be better.

The goal I put would cover his hospital cost, surgeon, rehab 3 times a week (not sure if he will have to go more than that) and his portion of their household bills.  I do not expect to raise this much money but if I can help raise at least what his bills will cost for him to be off then I can keep him from cancelling his surgery on September 29th.
