Anyone who is lucky to know our sister Stephanie can vouch that she is the most amazing, loving, selfless human being with a heart of gold. Stephanie, a 32 year old from New Jersey lives for her husband and her two sons. Elias age three and Roman age one. Stephanie has worked as a hair stylist for the last 17 years. She quit a much loved career to be a stay at home mom so that she could care for her children.
This week Stephanie's world was shattered when she heard that she has an extremely rare kind of lung cancer call Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma. This came as a horrific shock as she leads such a healthy lifestyle. Cancer is one of the scariest words to us being that we lost our mother, two aunts, uncle and grandparents to several different types of cancers including lung cancer. We NEVER expected to hear the word cancer in reference to our baby sister. We have been to countless doctors and the only one with experience in this cancer surgery is located in Boston, Massachusetts. We have started our journey to ensure that she gets the care she needs. Currently she is undergoing more testing and evaluations from a wonderful team of doctors at Mass General Hospital. And on September 10, 2014 she will be undergoing an extremely painful surgery to remove the cancerous tumor which requires removing more than half of her right lung. After it is removed we will find out if she needs chemo and radiation. As she starts her battle against cancer one thing that she shouldn't have to deal with is the financial burden weighing over her. We ask you from the bottom of our hearts to help her, her husband and two small children.Your support will help pay for her travel expenses, medication and for medical bills that insurance just won't cover that are already piling up by the thousands as well as her husband taking off of work while she is going through this.
