Operation Save Stella's Legs

Donation protected
It started a couple months ago in her right hind leg. I noticed a little limp and she had a harder time getting up the stairs. It escalated about three weeks ago and she became unstable on both hind legs, started falling over and having a hard time walking, and she could no longer make it up a flight of stairs. A few days ago, she stopped being able to walk and stand on her own.

After x rays and attempted treatment with medication, the next step was an mri. We found out she has a bulging disc compressing her spinal cord, and she is a candidate for surgery, which was good news. The condition isn't life threatening and with surgery has a positive success rate, and if we don't do it, she will be fully paralyzed within days.

When this started happening and we discussed going down this road, it was a tough decision, and my first instinct was that there was no way I could do it, no way I could afford it, so I sought guidance in my faith, and the answer, what gave me the courage to do it, was to ask for your help, to not be limited in what's possible. There's no way I could bring myself to put her down when she's not in pain and not terminal, and I couldn't just stand by and watch her go paralyzed, so I decided to take the leap of faith and go on the mission to help Stella walk again.

I'm asking you to help save Stella's legs. All of the funds will go toward her medical bills. For the mri, hospital stay, and surgery, the estimate is at $11,000, which will be due by the end of next week/end of March, which doesn't include the rehab and physical therapy, follow ups, and medications, which will come in the months to follow.

Stella is about 9 years old, a border collie mix, and it's common to see her breed live to 14, so she could have 5 miracle years ahead of her. She's already a survivor. Before I adopted her, she was found half dead on the back of someones porch outside the city. A local vet took her in. She was in a coma for about a week while they treated her for heart worms, malnourishment, and more. She recovered beautifully and used to be a great herder and runner. Even a few weeks ago she attempted some of her signature spin moves when she was feeling spritely for a moment. She still has so much life in her it's been hard to slow her down even with her legs not working.

I believe she could be another miracle survivor through this.

We lost her sister Allie to cancer last year. I was in a motorcycle accident, a hit and run, and I could use some good things happening. I would be so grateful for your help and contribution. It truly is what is giving me the courage to face this. My heart breaks for her, and I know it won't be easy taking care of her and even just taking her outside, but I'm prepared to rise to it and put my heart into it. Thank you so much for any help.
