Dear Friends and Family,
As many of you know, Jessy and Ryan gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on October 31, 2014. Stella Rae Donahue immediately captured our hearts! Over the last few weeks, her health has changed.
A note from Ryan (Stella's dad):
Stella was diagnosed with Hirschsprung's Disease, a birth defect where part of your intestine is missing ganglion cells required for peristalsis. Without these cells, the intestine does not receive signals from the brain to move, food does not move through the body as it should and nutrients are unable to be absorbed. There is no known cause of this.
She required a surgery to determine how much of her intestine was affected. After 15 biopsies and a 9 hour surgery, she only had 25% of her small intestine with "live" cells. As a result, she could not eat enterally (by mouth) because there was not enough intestine to absorb nutrients. She received 24 hour nutrition by IV and it was unlikely that she would ever be free of it.
Based on her condition and grim outlook, we have made a very difficult decision. Because we do not want her to suffer now, or later in life, we removed her life support and are letting her pass away in peace. She has had a very short, difficult life so far, but we are grateful for all of the people who fell in love with her and their continued love and prayers. We have amazing family and friends who have made this difficult time in our lives much better.

So many friends and family have asked, "how can we help"? Please continue to pray for sweet Stella, her family and her caregivers at the hospital. Should you want to do more, please consider helping us raise money to offset some of the expenses that Jessy and Ryan are facing. Our initial goal of this website request is to help fund the burial expense. I know Jessy and Ryan have a huge support network, so if we go over our targeted goal, they will have additional funds to put towards their overwhelming medical bills.
