Stashy's Life Saving Surgery Cost

Donation protected
Stashy (or mu"Stachey") was hit by a car over the weekend.  He is a neighbor icon always sitting on the corner. I fostered him and his littermates at 6 weeks old. I instantly became a foster failure and adopted all 3 of them. Stashy loves to be outside and waits for the kids to go to and from school everyday. He will sit outside and watch for them so he can get love and pets. The neighborhood kids have given him different names and he's quite the fixture on the corner of Firmont and Pale Moon.  Stashy is like a little dog.  He will follow anyone anywhere.  We would sneak out of the house to avoid him so he wouldn't follow us on walks and think he can go too far from home.  After he was hit by a car he managed to get himself back home, crawl under the fence and go upstairs to his heated cat house. After he didn't come out of his house for hours (which is unusual for a friendly guy like Stashy) we made the discovery that he couldn't move his back legs and was in a lot of pain. The vet referred us to a specialty animal hospital.  The force of the impact ripped open his abdominal wall pushing some of his intestines and his bladder out. His right thigh muscle and tendon were messed up pretty bad. The dr described it as being "blown out" or "hamburger meat".  In good news his liver, kidneys, bladder, and intestines only suffered bruising and were not damaged.  He is lucky he didn't break any bones. If he didn't have the surgery he would have passed away from his injuries. Many people have asked me to set up a Go Fund Me to help support Stashy since he is the neighborhood cat and follows many people around the neighborhood. The surgery and hospital stay is going to cost over $4700 and the medical exam from the initial vet was $350.  If Stashy has made an impact on you or your children and you'd like to contribute to his medical expenses that would be so appreciated.  He will have a month long around he clock recovery in front of him. I don't know if he will be resuming his perch on the corner to watch the kids. I will take him out in the afternoons when the kids are walking home so they can still see him once he recovers or if your child is missing him and wants to visit please knock on our door.  We appreciate all your thoughts and prayers for our little guy. This little guy is a fighter.   As long as there are no unforeseen complications he is expected to recover from this.  Thank you again for everyone asking for a go fund me to help support him.
