Stark's Little Heart
Donation protected
Stark was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome at 20 weeks in utero. Essentially, the left ventricle of his heart did not form correctly and would be unable to function, a fatal condition.
He was born June 8, 2012 via c-section at Baylor Medical Hospital. Within hours, he was transported to Dallas Childrens Hospital where doctors began running tests on his little heart and body to see if he was still a candidate for the 3 surgeries.
He has undergone his first open heart surgery June 13th, 2012. He had his second surgery October 30th, & another just before his 2nd birthday. While his parents always knew he'd eventually need a new heart, they thought they had time before facing the inevitable. On October 17th, 2014 - Stark was placed on the transplant list in the most critical category of 1A. Just 5 weeks later, on his fathers 32nd birthday, did they get the call that Stark had a heart! Later that day, Stark underwent transplant surgery for his new heart in Dallas.
While insurance will help with costs, the Novak family will endure significant out-of-pocket expenses as they stay in Dallas in a "transplant apartment" by Starks side through recovery at Dallas Childrens Hospital & with an untold amount of doctors visits to follow. Donations will be a tremendous help!
Thank you for the continued support and prayers from around the world.
