Dear Friends and Family,

I have a very special friend that needs your help. Her name is Brandie Stanley and she lives in Murfreesboro, TN, with her husband and four children. Brandie has been my hairdresser for many years. She is the kind of person that you meet and immediately know that success is in her destiny. Her business has thrived because of her dedicated work ethic, integrity and passion for her craft. Like you and I, Brandie has hopes and dreams for a long and prosperous tomorrow, but things happened that were totally out of her control and threw her into a situation that no one should ever have to deal with on their own. So I decided to step in on her behalf and ask for your help. I asked Brandie to write her story. Please take a moment to read it, and please pray about what God would have you to do help her and her family. We have started a Go-Fund Me account for a trust set up to help with the needs arising from her son Axton's illness called the "Stanley 2017 Special Needs Trust". This family has endured so much it is incredible, but I have seen their circumstances unfold before me and am driven to do whatever I can to help. I would humbly ask that if it is in your heart, you would help as well. Thank you so much,

Sue Powell Scott

Here is Brandie's story:

My name is Brandie.  Five years ago I had a child born blind with septo-optic dysplasia.  His name is Axton.  He spent 42 days in the NICU at Vaderbilt Children's Hospital and we incurred over a million dollars in medical bills.  We had private insurance at the time through my husband's work, but shortly after we were dropped.  My son Axton is also autistic and bipolar, and has self-injurious behavior.  He has diabetes insipidus, thyroid disorder, siezures, and is developmentally and cognitively delayed.  He has a total of 24 doagnosed disabilities.  Although he is now 5 years old, he does not walk or talk.  He is still in diapers and eats baby food.  He is so sensitive to sound that we cannot leave our home.   He is at the doctor weekly and is in the hospital for one reason or another monthly.  He also needs to see five therapists for different ailments weekly.
Having a special needs child has been a tremendous change to our home life, where we have 3 other children under the age of 18.  My husband, Robert, has lost jobs for missing so much work with our son being constantly sick.  Robert needs back surgery, but cannot get it because he is needed to lift Axton, and would not be able to lift him for a time if he has the operation.
I am severely depressed and even worse, I have stage 3 cervicle cancer, which requires me to have a hysterectomy.  I also have sciatica and a slipped disk in my back from carrying Axton.  He is now over half my body weight.  Axton's disabilities  have forced us into bankruptcy.  We are drowning in uncovered medical dept and prior to filing bankruptcy, had to get high -interest loans to make ends meet.  Our vehicle has broken down, and its tires are about to pop.  We desperately need a vehicle that we can transport a wheelchair in.  At this point, we have sold almost everything of value, including my wedding ring, which was dear to me.
As all of this has transpired, I have become a prisoner of my own home.  I no longer see friends or family because of the total care my son requires.  We have not been on vacation in five years, and have not been one entire day away from Axton ever.  I had a very successful business as a hairdresser for fifteen years, but have lost alot of my clients because of Axton's very special needs, and there has been alot of turmoil and stress on my other children who feel get no attention due to these circumstances.
We are at a loss and need help.  I am afraid if something doesn't give soon I am going to lose my mind.  It's bad enough to live with a child that you never know which day could be his last, but to lose everything that we have worked for on top of all of this is disheartening at the deepest levels.

Our thanks for everyone's time and prayers.

Brandie

When Axton gets overstimulated or under stimulated, he bites himself severely.
