Support the Gerbrand family overcome their car accident and cancer aftermath

Alfrid, Julie and their kids Cooper, Isabel and Sam, were involved in a car accident this weekend. Their van was hit by an unattentive driver in a massive pick-up truck. Julie and Isabel suffered minor injuries however…their vehicle is totalled!

Why is this a big issue? Al and Julie had a few challenging years, to say at least. Two years ago, Al was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma. He underwent chemo treatment and beat the disease, but the impact of this is still very much part of their lives. While Julie continued to work as an Early Childhood Educator, Al had to close down his printing company. AL is currently in remission from cancer and the strenuous treatment. He has applied for numerous jobs without any success. When he finally got a job unloading supply trucks, this proved to be too physically demanding and due to an injury that job ended.

Al recently started his one-man graphic design company. However being sick, having little income for 2 years and the recovery from cancer proved to be costly and the bills keep coming in!

While the insurance will cover the daily value of the van (which as we all know from experience, is very little) they are in desperate need of funds to buy another vehicle, as well as funding for additional physiotherapy for Julie and Isabel to treat the injuries sustained in the accident.

Al and Julie are kind,loving people who always give much to others, often setting aside their own needs. Beside being devoted parents and wonderful friends, they are active members in their church community, sports community as well as providing respite care for their adopted cousins.
