Help Sponsor Busses to the March on Washington!

Donation protected

Systemic racism, oppression, and devaluation of human life is rampant in our society. The stories of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery (only recent examples of countless others dating back 400+ years) have taught us it is true.

57 years ago the great Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. led the ‘March on Washington’ to fight for freedom. To carry on his legacy, we invite you to join us, Martin Luther King III, Rev. Al Sharpton & countless others as we again meet at the Lincoln Memorial on August 28, 2020.

Our biggest expense is transportation. In conjunction with our volunteer efforts, we have secured discounted rates for 54-passenger busses to transport the community, volunteers and supplies to D.C. The seats will be available free of charge to community members.

We are asking for YOUR help to offset these costs. Would you please chip in & sponsor seats on the bus?

With the continued threat from COVID-19, enormous expected turnout, and summertime heat in D.C., it will be a long day for all attendees. Based on experience in peaceful protests where we have lived across our great country, and in an effort to help everyone stay safe, we have already begun accepting donations. Items such as sunscreen, masks, hand sanitizer, water, snacks (and more!) will be given out to attendees in homemade, upcycled, reusable bags on August 28.

We can’t do this alone. As the great Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

Where he led 57 years ago, it is with excitement and reverence that we look forward to walking with his son (and YOU?), as we demonstrate our commitment to fighting for necessary policing and criminal justice reforms.

Let’s do this together!

Thank you in advance for your support,
Black Lives Matter/Harrisburg, UniteCentralPA & reloved

PLEASE NOTE: Masks required (and provided to attendees). To protect your health and the health of others, in compliance with COVID-19 Washington, DC Health Guidance for Conservation of Personal Protective Equipment, you are required to wear a PPE mask in public in Washington, DC. We will supply PPE materials. Additional measures, including but not limited to temperature checks, & COVID-19 waiver forms will also be in place.
