Layne & Liam - For their Future

It’s not a story we all haven’t heard in some variation at least once before. And it’s unfortunately one that we will most likely continue to hear about throughout our lives. Cancer has taken away so many of our friends and family through it’s various forms, and when it does take that loved one, what’s left behind is pure and simply, many broken hearts…The hearts of mothers, fathers, wives, husbands, brothers, sisters, friends and co-workers. But arguably the most affected by a loss are the hearts of the children left behind.

 Just this past April, Eric Sponseller was diagnosed with stage 4 Melanoma, a devastating diagnosis for him and his family. And just this month, his loving wife, Christina and their two sons, Layne (5) and Liam (3), lost their hero. A young life that had a beautiful family and loving friends was taken too soon. What are left behind, besides the broken hearts, are the unfortunate expenses that accumulate from such a loss.
 
Eric and Christina were fortunate to have health insurance, but together they decided to do everything possible to keep Eric alive for his family, but especially for his boys. Eric underwent experimental procedures and endured numerous surgeries, radiation and chemotherapy, all in attempts to fight as hard as he possibly could, so his boys wouldn’t have to question why their dad was taken from them. Although Eric and Christina did everything they could, the battle was lost, and now besides grieving the loss, the realities of medical expenses will soon be hitting.

 This page was set up to help Christina, Layne and Liam during what will most definitely be the hardest shared moment of their lives. Although money can’t mend three broken hearts, it can certainly lift some burdens off of Christina’s shoulders so that she can instead focus her attention on making sure her boys know that although daddy is no longer physically here, with time, everything will be ok because mommy still is.

Christina is a kind soul, a loving mother and a devoted wife. Those who personally know her know that she always put others ahead of herself, and now it’s time that we put her and the boys ahead of ourselves, during her time of need.
