We are a collective group of parents that want more for the kids!
Below is the Bio of the teacher we have contracted out!

I've been working with kids with special needs for over 10 years. My first teaching job was as an assistant in a special needs program in Bakersfield, Ca. I learned early that I have a passion for students with special needs and that I want more for them. I watched my cousin with Autism grow up and go through the route of being served by a public school district. And it wasn't until some time had passed that his amazing gifts and talents  were recognized and discovered.  Children with special needs are amazing. They are talented. They are gifted. They have all of these gems hidden away just waiting for the right person and place to allow them to bring it out. They don't need schools where they are pushed into a box and told how to be. They don't need schools where they are told to be normal, told how to sit, told how to act, told how to talk.

What they need is a school where they are celebrated for being who they are. Where all their talents and gifts are recognized. I've always believed that learning how to sit, talk, and all the other "normal" things will come. If we celebrate who they are while teaching them to be better versions of themselves all the little details will fall in place. They need a school where they find a purpose for what THEY want to do. They need a school that teaches them how to serve others, how to contribute to society in their own way. In the end I want to create a place that teaches children with special needs how to be happy, successful, serving adults that love their purpose in life.

The difference between our school and how the public school teaches is we use a Neuro linguistic learning language theory to teach the students. In short, we teach them from their visual systems. We also teach the whole picture. So instead of trying to teach them small skills at a time and taking data on that small skill, we would teach them why and how that small skill matters to their life. Many times when we teach small skills, after a few weeks it is forgotten because the students don't know why or how it is needed. Teaching them why and how gives them purpose. A school like this is desperately needed. If we could wave a wand and start a school magically I would but sadly everything takes money.

We are seeking 50k as a start up fund for our program. Our program is called Program for Intellectual Empowerment! Please click here for the website!

20k of the money would go to rent/lease of a space For the year.  The space we are looking for would have a classroom, playground, have a kitchen ( to teach life skills) and be near transit (to teach transportation). Some of the money would also go to building/business permits as we are also looking to create a cafe of some kind for the students to run and learn life skills.

15k would go to health care cost for employees. The families and we  want to be able to provide health care for any instructional assistant, but to add it to the tuition would cost a lot for all parents and families. If we could get this taken care of it would be so helpful for our program to be able to provide this for them.

15k would go for supplies. We need a document camera and an interactive projector or smart board. We need kitchen supplies, writing supplies, play equipment supplies ( we believe in exercise) and we also need a large van incase we go any field trips far away.

Any and all donations would be so helpful. It's time to change the world. It's time to rise up and take action. It's time for these kids to get the education they deserve.

“The fact is that given the challenges we face, education doesn't need to be reformed -- it needs to be transformed. The key to this transformation is not to standardize education, but to personalize it, to build achievement on discovering the individual talents of each child, to put students in an environment where they want to learn and where they can naturally discover their true passions.”
